The status of Social Capital in University Libraries of Mashhad

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the status of social capital in university libraries of Mashhad. A questionnaire was used in this survey for collecting data. This questionnaire was adopted from Nahapiet and Goshal’s organizational social capital assessment instrument. In this research social capital includes three dimensions، cognitive social capital، relational social capital and structural social capital. Research findings show the components of common norms including culture of teamwork، responsibility and hard work، spirit of critical capability and spirit of dedication، also the obligations and expectations components of the librarians، commitment to the goals and interests of the library are at the lowest average. Corporate identity also has the highest average. Among the individual variables "gender"، "marital status "،" age "and" education "only there was positive and significant relation between marital status and social capital variables. Findings also show that the average of social capital and its dimensions in the libraries of mashhad university of medical Science is higher than Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
