Urban population growth and widespread environmental changes and concrete landscapes have driven many elements of the metropolis closer to exhaustion. This changed the appearance and body of the city, causing the erosion of urban space and urban activities. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the improvement and renovation projects in Yazd city with tourism approach. This study uses observations and literature research of Yazd city, collection of information and statistics, review and evaluation of improvement and modernization plans, and interviews and questions from relevant experts and residents living in Yazd. The area investigated in this study is the city of Yazd, where there are over 4,000 hectares of used textiles in Yazd province, of which about 2,600 hectares are located in the historical city of Yazd, and the rest in the historical Neighboring city of Yazd. The main problem of the quality of life in these areas is the lack of social dignity in other urban areas, although the extent of benefiting these areas from urban services is comparable to other city centers. Also, in urban services, the worn-out fabric is the wear and tear of facilities, especially the accesses, because in the network of connecting roads, the worn-out fabric of the roads must communicate with other urban areas and is important for tourism in this city. These axes are well-suited in a dynamic environment, catering to the needs of tourists visiting the city. Yazd city's strong points, such as the abundance of historical and tourism elements, its central and accessible location, the promotion of culture through its historic neighborhoods, and its potential for development, contribute to its appeal for tourists. Consequently, these factors generate a wide range of uses that cater to the preferences and requirements of incoming tourists to the city.

Urban growth pattern classification comprises three types of expansion, namely horizontal or scattered expansion, intensive growth, and smart growth. This study is a practical investigation focusing on the development and assessment of the physical transformations occurring in Yazd City. The research has utilized multi-temporal Landsat satellite images from 1996, 2016, and Ester satellite 2006. The supervised classification method with the most similarity has been employed to analyse the levels of green space, urban built space, road, and barren land and track their changes. The study revealed that the size of the city did not change between 1996 and 2016, but the population density increased. However, during the same period, there was a significant 43.6% reduction in the amount of green space. According to the graph, there has been a consistent rise in urban development from 1996 to 2016. Throughout the duration of the construction period, there has been a 1.65-fold expansion in the urban area, leading to a reduction of 32% in the barren land within Yazd city. The collective evidence of modifications in Yazd city, both in terms of physical alterations and spatial expansion, indicates that the utilization of barren land within the urban setting and the elimination of gardens and reduction in green areas have led to an increase in urban spaces by a factor of 1.65.

In recent years, the importance of environmental protection has increased. On the other hand, the phenomenon of urbanization, which is increasing every day, is one of the main challenges of climate and environmental changes. To control and manage the conditions, it is very important to pay attention to the concept of ecological development. This concept has a long history and theorists such as Sarda, Howard, Geddes have studied the form and human life in the field of urban planning. In this descriptive-analytical article, according to the records and opinions of experts, based on 12 criteria, the assessment and prioritization of the ecological indicators of Yazd city were discussed. In reviewing the results, the neighborhood security index with a weight of 0.2345 was the most important and the private vehicle ownership index with a weight of 0.0092 was the least important. According to the purpose of the research, which considered the ecological limitation, solutions were proposed, which are: carrying out urban development plans using multi-criteria decision-making and paying attention to the power of the environment, strengthening the security body of the city, strengthening the engineering and expert body of the municipality. Use of correct and more accurate field studies, wider study with more number of ecological criteria.

we have made a comparative-statistical explanation of the perception of a number of visitors and tourists based on the results of a questionnaire and a completed survey of tourist attractions. This study finally presents four main findings First: The factor analysis model of this study showed that the perception of tourists is based on the components of urban regeneration in four different levels of tourist attractions. These four levels are the historical and ancient core of the city, complementary historical attractions, the city's tourism belt and the general urban context. Second: Elements associated with the city's tourism belt, such as territories and public spaces of the urban environment, are considered as the most important tourist attractions and tourists. Third, a comparison of the average value of the indicators shows that tourists who have used the Internet and social media in their searches, in the first place, they react more to the historical core of the city, in the second place, to the levels of public urban areas and territories, and in the third place, to the complementary tourist attractions. Fourth: In this study, it was found that among the components of urban regeneration, the component of development and promotion of public spaces and territories, have the greatest impact on the development of urban tourism. Since public areas and urban spaces play an essential role in tourist attractions, it is recommended that this issue be included in urban development strategies when planning cities with a tourism base.

The faults and fractures play crucial roles in conducting groundwater flow and providing high recharge zones for aquifers. The hard rock formations are exposed on the ground surface of the west of Yazd Province in Iran and build a reliable groundwater source for consumption. This study aims to provide a hydro-tectonic conceptual model of the region using remote sensing techniques and GIS. The geological map, groundwater resource data, geophysical reports, hydrogeological reports, and Landsat ETM satellite images are collected and evaluated by field visits. The lineaments densities of the area have been extracted and projected on various maps. The results demonstrate that the likelihood of groundwater flow is correlated positively with the region's main geological structures and groundwater resource availability. Finally, to conclude, the hydrotectonics model of the area consists of several distinctive and non-distinctive aquifers because of the presence of hydrogeological and tectonic barriers, water-conducting passages, and even neutral fractures.Keywords: Faults, groundwater hydrotectonics, Lineaments, remote sensing, Yazd

Natural hazards have always changed the environment and threatened human life. In this regard, geological hazards including earthquake, subsidence, etc. are the most destructive natural factors that our country, Iran, is affected by them. That is why planning and preparation to deal with these catastrophes is essential. Aerial communication networks have an important role in the relief operation because of the rapid access after an earthquake. The purpose of this study, is locating an appropriate site of air rescuing after a casualty. Hierarchical analysis method was used for weighting after determining the effective indicators in locating; including the area of open space of the site, access to dense and vulnerable texture, service user and main arteries. After preparing the final map, zones of avoidance were announced. The evaluation method similarity to ideal option in the software environment of the spatial information system was used to select the final site. This study is an applied research because of its aim and it has been carried out using descriptive - analytical method. According to obtained results, three squares called Sanat, Saheb-a Zaman and Farhang were selected as suitable sites. یکی از مهمترین عوامل آلوده کننده محیط زیست در جهان و به خصوص در کشور ما که بخش اعظم آن را مناطق گرم و خشک تشکیل می دهد، سیستم های تهویه و سرمایش است. در این راستا، سامانه های غیر فعال همواره نقش موثری در تامین آسایش و سلامت ساکنین و کاهش مصرف انرژی داشته است. مقاله پیش رو در پی دستیابی به بهینه ترین تدابیر سرمایش غیر فعال در مسکن شهرهای حاشیه کویر است. بنابراین شهر یزد و اصفهان به عنوان نمونه موردی انتخاب شده و میزان کارایی سامانه های سرمایش غیر فعال در این دو شهر مورد بررسی و مقایسه قرار گرفته است. راهبرد اصلی این پژوهش توصیفی- تحلیلی است. برای به دست آوردن میزان کارایی سامانه ها، شرایط آسایش محیطی بنا قبل و بعد از استفاده از این سامانه ها مورد ارزیابی قرار گرفته است. سپس بر مبنای تحلیل های صورت گرفته برای هر سامانه در ماه های مختلف سال و با مقایسه تطبیقی نتایج، سامانه های با حداکثر کارایی برای هر شهر معرفی شده است. نتایج حاصل از تحقیق نشان می دهد که سرمایش تبخیری غیر مستقیم کاراترین سامانه در گرم ترین ماه های سال برای اقلیم گرم و خشک (B) است و پس از آن تهویه شبانه برای اصفهان و سایر شهرهای با اقلیم مشابه (Bsk) و سرمایش تبخیری مستقیم برای یزد و سایر شهرهای با اقلیم مشابه (Bwh) پیشنهاد مناسبی می باشد.کلید واژگان: اقلیم گرم و خشک، سامانه های سرمایش غیر فعال، یزد، اصفهان، سامانه کاراAir conditioning and cooling systems are one of the most pollutant of the environment in the world and especially our country, because of its warm and dry climate. In this regard, passive systems have an effective role in providing comfort and health of inhabitants. Furthermore they decrease energy consumption. The purpose of this research is to determine the most efficient systems of passive cooling for the desert cities. Isfahan and Yazd has been chosen as case studies. So the efficiency of passive cooling systems has been compared and analyzed in these two cities. The main strategy of this research is descriptive- analytical. To obtain the efficiency of systems, the comfort condition of building has been analyzed before and after using these systems. Afterward the most efficient system has been determined for each city based on the completed analysis of each passive cooling system. The results show that indirect evaporative cooling is the most efficient system in the warmest months of the year for hot and dry climate (B). Night purge ventilation is an efficient system for Isfahan and the cities with the same climate (Bsk) and direct evaporative cooling is an efficient system for Yazd and other cities with the same climate (Bwh).Keywords: Hot, dry climate, Passive cooling systems, Yazd, Isfahan, Efficient system
