Megaselia Rondani, 1856 is a megadiverse genus of scuttle flies, commonly found worldwide. This article reports on the recent discovery of 31 species of Megaselia newly recorded in Morocco, collected in various regions, including the Rif Mountain, the Atlantic Plain and the Atlas Mountains, covering numerous habitats, such as forests, grasslands, agricultural fields, riverbanks, springs, ponds, peat bogs, and lake with the purpose of assessing a wide variety of habitats and understanding the ecological preferences of Megaselia species. These new findings have increased the total of Moroccan phorid fauna to 45 species so far. Of these, 43 are Megaselia species.

The present list is based on all available published literatures on taxonomy and biodiversity of the thrips fauna of China (including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau) up to July 2024. The known Chinese Thysanoptera fauna currently consists of 816 species in 206 genera, including 443 species in the suborder Terebrantia and 373 species in the suborder Tubulifera. In addition, the family Stenurothripidae Bagnall has been added to the fauna of China. In the past 10 years, many additional taxa have been newly recorded or described for China, that is includes about 12.6% of all species of thrips in the world. Amongst Chinese taxa, the family Thripidae is the most diverse, with 412 species, and within this family, the richest genera are Thrips, Stenchaetothrips, Mycterothrips and Trichromothrips, respectively. Totally, the most species have been recorded from Taiwan, with 292 records, followed by Yunnan, with 273 records, and Guangdong, with 237 records.

کنه های اریباتید خانواده Galumnidae (Acari: Oribatida) از جمله کنه هایی هستند که در زیستگاه های مختلف، به ویژه خاک به وفور یافت شده و با تنوع گونه ای بالا و ویژگی های خاص زیستی خود نقش مهمی در تجزیه مواد آلی و زنجیره های غذایی اکوسیستم ایفا می کنند. در این مقاله فون کنه های اریباتید خانواده Galumnidae ایران مورد بازنگری قرار گرفته است. نمونه های مورد بررسی متعلق به یک دوره سی و دو ساله از سال 1370 تا 1402 از مناطق مختلف ایران هستند که تقریبا همگی آنها در مجموعه کنه شناسی بخش گیاهپزشکی دانشکده کشاورزی دانشگاه شیراز نگهداری می شوند. نمونه های بررسی شده در حدود 1000 عدد کنه به صورت اسلاید میکروسکوپی نگهداری می شوند. در این بررسی تعداد 28 گونه از کنه های این خانواده متعلق به نه جنس Acrogalumna، Allogalumna، Cryptogalumna،Galumna ، Leptogalumna ،Pergalumna ، Psammogalumna،Pilogalumna وTrichogalumna از نقاط مختلف ایران معرفی و کلیدی برای شناسایی جنس ها و گونه ها ارائه شده است. جنس Cryptogalumna برای نخستین بار از ایران گزارش می شود. در مقاله حاضر به نقش و اهمیت کنه های خانواده Galumnidae در طبیعت نیز به طور مختصر اشاره شده است.

In this paper, the oribatid mite of the Galumnidae family of Iran has been revised. The examined samples belong to a period of thirty-two years from 1991 to 2023, from different regions of Iran, and almost all of them are kept in the Acarological collection of the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Shiraz University, Iran. The examined samples are about 1000 individual mites are kept in the form of microscopic slides. In this review, 28 species of mites of this family belonging to nine genera including Acrogalumna, Allogalumna, Cryptogalumna, Galumna, Leptogalumna, Pergalumna, Psammogalumna, Pilogalumna and Trichogalumna from different parts of Iran were introduced and a key to identify the genera and species was presented. The genus Cryptogalumna is reported for the first time from Iran. In this paper, the role and importance of Galumnidae family in nature is also briefly mentioned.

The discovery of the Holarctic tachinid genus Solieria Robineau-Desvoidy, 1849, in Iran led to the identification of a new species to science, which is described here as Solieria variabilis sp. nov. It can be separated from other related species by the absence of discal setae on abdominal tergites, lack of proclinate and latero-reclinate orbital setae in the male, the width of frons, and by colouration and microtrichosity of abdomen. The comparison of the morphological characters of S. variabilis sp. nov. with its close relatives S. fenestrata (Meigen, 1824) and S. pacifica (Meigen, 1824) is provided. Photographic images of the habitus and head as well as illustrations of terminalia are given.

This study was carried out to determine the fauna of oribatid mites (Oribatida) in Hormozgan province (southern Iran). Berlese funnel was used to obtain specimens from soil and leaf litter samples in various habitats in the province during the months of February to October 2021. Forty-three species belonging to 30 genera from 20 families of oribatid mites were collected from Bandar Abbas, Minab, Rudan and Hajiabad counties and identified. The species Javacarus (J.) porosus Hammer, 1979, Hoplophorella (H.) hamata (Ewing, 1909) and Lamellobates (L.) molecula molecula (Berlese, 1916) are recorded for the first time from Iran.

به منظور مطالعه فون سن های برگی، بررسی هایی طی سال های 1402-1400 در باغ های فندق استان گیلان انجام شد. جمع آوری حشرات با استفاده از تور حشره گیری، به روش ضربه زدن شاخه های درختان فندق و جاروزدن گیاهان میزبان رشد یافته زیر درختان فندق انجام شد. در مجموع 23 گونه از زیر خانواده های Mirinae (13 گونه)، Orthotylinae (5 گونه)، Phylinae (3 گونه) و Deraeocorinae (2 گونه) جمع آوری و شناسایی شدند. از گونه های جمع آوری شده، 9 گونه گیاه خوار (39%)، 12 گونه شکارگر (52%) و 2 گونه رفتار دوگانه شکارگر/ گیاه خواری (9%) دارند. فهرست زیر،گونه های شناسایی شده بر اساس زیرخانواده ها است که برای اولین بار از باغ های فندق استان گیلان گزارش می شوند. به منظور سهولت در تشخیص گونه ها توصیف مختصر و تصاویر دیجیتالی از سطح پشتی هر گونه تهیه شد. این مطالعه برای اولین بار در فندق کاری های ایران انجام شده

Insect samples were collected by using an insect net by hitting the branches of hazelnut trees and sweeping the host plants grown at the base of hazelnut trees in hazelnut orchards. A total of 23 species from the subfamilies Mirinae (13 species), Orthotylinae (5 species), Phylinae (3 species) and Deraeocorinae (2 species) were collected and identified. Among collected species, 9 species are herbivores (39%), 12 species predators (52%), and 2 species have dual predator/herbivory behavior (9%). The following identified species has been listed based on subfamilies. They are reported for the first time from the hazelnut orchards of Guilan province. In order to facilitate the identifications, a brief description and digital images of the dorsal habitus of each species were prepared. کنه های اریباتید (Acari: Oribatida) یکی از مهم ترین تجزیه کنندگان مواد آلی موجود در خاک بوده و در فرایند تشکیل گیاخاک با میکروارگانیسم ها مشارکت دارند. در این مقاله فون کنه های اریباتید خانواده Lohmanniidae ایران مورد بازنگری قرار گرفته است. نمونه های مورد بررسی متعلق به یک دوره سی ساله از سال 1371 تا 1401 از مناطق مختلف ایران هستند که بیشتر آنها در مجموعه کنه شناسی بخش گیاه پزشکی دانشکده کشاورزی دانشگاه شیراز نگهداری می شوند. نمونه های بررسی شده در حدود بیش از 700 عدد کنه به صورت اسلاید میکروسکوپی نگهداری می شوند. در این بررسی تعداد 24 گونه از کنه های این خانواده متعلق به 10 جنس Cryptacarus، Haplacarus، Heptacarus، Javacarus، Lepidacarus ، Lohmannia ، Mixacarus، Nesiacarus ، Papillacarus و Thamnacarus از نقاط مختلف ایران معرفی و کلیدی برای شناسایی جنس ها، زیرجنس ها و گونه ها ارائه می شوند. سه جنس، شامل Haplacarus، Lepidacarus و Nesiacarus برای نخستین بار از ایران گزارش می شوند. در مقاله حاضر به نقش و اهمیت کنه های خانواده Lohmanniidae در طبیعت نیز به طور مختصر اشاره شده است.کلید واژگان: پراکنش، خاک، فون، کنه های اریباتید، ماکروپلیناOribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida) are one of the most important decomposers of organic matters in the soil and participate in the process of humus formation with microorganisms. In this paper, the fauna of oribatid mites of the family Lohmanniidae in Iran has been reviewed. The examined samples belong to a period of 30 years from 1992 to 2022 from different regions of Iran, that most of them are preserved in the Acarological collection of the Department of Plant Protection, College of Agriculture, Shiraz University. The examined samples are about more than 700 individual mites, which have been mounted as microscope slides. In this review, 24 species of mites of this family belong to 10 genera (Cryptacarus, Haplacarus, Heptacarus, Javacarus, Lepidacarus, Lohmannia, Mixacarus, Nesiacarus, Papillacarus and Thamnacarus ) are introduced from different parts of Iran and a key to the genera, subgenera and species is provided. Three genera including Haplacarus, Lepidacarus and Nesiacarus are reported for the first time from Iran. The present study is based on oribatid mite materials collected from the Gambela region, Ethiopia. A list of 41 species, belonging to 30 genera and 20 families, is presented. One new species Scheloribates (Scheloribates) aboboensis Ermilov sp. nov. (Scheloribatidae) is described.

The present study is based on oribatid mite material collected from five locations in Eastern Guatemala. A list of 98species, belonging to 68 genera and 43 families, is presented; 70 species are recorded for the first time in Guatemalan fauna.A new species of genus Pergalumna,P. paraobsidianasp. nov.is described from rainforest litter.

The larvae of certain species in the Noctuidae family cause significant economic damage annually. Due to the importance of this group, specimens of the subfamily Noctuinae, specifically from the tribe Leucaniini, collected from the Fars, Ilam, Kerman and Khuzestan provinces were studied. As a result, among the nine identified and studied species from the genera Mythimna and Leucania, four species from Khuzestan province, three species from Ilam province and one species from Fars province were registered as new provincial records. Additionally, the distribution of Leucania (Leucania) herrichii Herrich-Schäffer, 1849 was confirmed for the first time in Iran. Further studies on this tribe in different parts of Iran are recommended.

One new species and three new records of Tomocerus have been reported for the first time from India. The new species Tomocerus sikkimensis sp. nov. discovered from Gangtok, Sikkim (India) has been illustrated and described here. The new species differs from others in dental spine number, arrangement and mucro teeth number. Tomocerus (Ocreatomurus) qinae Yu, Yan & Liu, 2016, Tomocerus (Tomocerus) minor (Lubbock, 1862) and Tomocerus (Ocreatomurus) paraspinulus Gong, Qin & Yu, 2018 are the first time reported from the Indian states Arunachal Pradesh and West Bengal respectively. A key to the Indian species of Tomocerus has also been provided.

Species of the subfamily Diplazontinae (Hym.: Ichneumonidae) were studied in West Azarbaijan province (Northwest of Iran). The specimens were collected using Malaise traps, during 2019–2020. Five species belonging to three genera were collected and identified. One species, Homotropus riedeli Johansson, 2020 was a new record for Iran as well as Asia. The distribution range of this species extends from Sweden to the north-west of Iran. A checklist is being compiled for 27 known Iranian species of this subfamily. In addition, a distribution map based on the recorded areas for each species within the Iranian provinces has been provided. We proposed a new direction for future biodiversity inventories of this subfamily in Iran.

Aphids constitute a significant cohort of herbivorous insects, primarily nourishing themselves by extracting plant sap, sometimes posing a notable threat to plant health. Here, we present a comprehensive investigation into the aphid fauna associated with Carthamus in Iran, unveiling 18 species across 11 genera within the Aphididae. Furthermore, 31 associations between aphid species and host plants were recognized, of which two are new for Iran. Our study expands upon prior knowledge by documenting three new occurrences, shedding light on previously unrecorded aphid species in Isfahan and Razavi Khorasan provinces. In addition, we describe the previously unknown male of Uroleucon carthami, offering insights into its life cycle and reproductive strategies. An identification key to the apterous viviparous female aphids living on Carthamus in Iran is provided.

In this paper, we provide additional data on the orb-weaver spider fauna (Araneae: Araneidae) of Kosovo. Three species are reported for the first time from this country: Araneus grossus (C.L. Koch, 1844), Argiope lobata (Pallas, 1772) and Cyclosa oculata (Walckenaer, 1802). In consideration of the findings and the updated checklist of Araneidae in this study, the documented number of spider species in Kosovo has now increased to 251. Given that the spider fauna of Kosovo is still not fully explored, our study emphasizes the necessity of ongoing exploration to better comprehend the diversity of spider species within the region.

این تحقیق به منظور بررسی مگس های تاکینید انگل واره (parasitoid) آفات مهم مزارع ذرت و چغندرقند در استان های کرمانشاه و همدان طی سال های 1402-1401 انجام شد. برای این کار گیاهان آلوده به آفات به آزمایشگاه منتقل شده و تا خروج حشرات کامل در دمای اتاق نگهداری شدند. در این بررسی شش گونه مگس تاکینید به عنوان انگل واره لاروهای بال پولک داران (Lepidoptera) آفت مزارع ذرت و چغندرقند شناسایی شدند. نتایج حاصله نشان می دهد گونه های Drino imberbis (Wiedemann, 1830)، Linnaemya neavei Curran, 1934 و Pseudogonia rufifrons (Wiedemann, 1830)، به لاروهای شب پره برگخوار Leucania loreyi (Duponchel, 1827) در مزارع ذرت حمله می کنند که از میان آنها، گونه D. imberbis برای اولین در ایران به عنوان انگل واره این شب پره گزارش می شود. لاروهای شب پره ساقه خوار ذرت، Sesamia cretica Lederer, 1857 به عنوان میزبان مگس Voria ruralis (Fallén, 1810) شناسایی شدند که این رابطه میزبانی برای اولین بار در دنیا گزارش می شود. گونه های Periscepsia carbonaria (Panzer, 1797) و Tachina sp. به ترتیب به عنوان انگل واره های لارو شب پره های طوقه بر Agrotis segetum (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) و برگ خوار Spodoptera exigua (Hübner, [1808]) در مزارع چغندرقند گزارش می شوند.کلید واژگان: انگل واره، ایران، دشمنان طبیعی، فون، کنترل بیولوژیکThe tachinid flies (Diptera) and their host species have been studied in the corn and sugar beet fields of Kermanshah and Hamedan provinces from 2022 to 2023. The infested plants by caterpillars were collected in order to rear the larvae at the laboratory. In this study, six species of parasitoids were identified of which Drino imberbis (Wiedemann, 1830), Linnaemya neavei Curran, 1934 and Pseudogonia rufifrons (Wiedemann, 1830) parasitize the larval stages of Leucania loreyi (Duponchel, 1827) in corn fields. The species D. imberbis is newly reported here as a parasitoid of L. loreyi in Iran. The tachinid Voria ruralis (Fallén, 1810) is the first world recorded parasitoid of larval stages of Sesamia cretica Lederer, 1857. Furthermore, Periscepsia carbonaria (Panzer, 1797) and an undetermined Tachina sp. were discovered to parasitize the larvae of Agrotis segetum (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) and Spodoptera exigua (Hübner, [1808]), respectively, in sugar beet fields.Keywords: Biological Control, Fauna, Iran, Natural Enemies, Parasitoid

گونه جدید Aeolothrips kishensis sp. n. توصیف شده است. تنوع تریپس در ایران به اختصار مورد بحث قرار گرفته و فهرستی از 45 گونه و 9 جنس توصیف و ثبت شده طی سال های 2018 تا 2024 تهیه شده است. ویژگی های افتراقی و تصاویر گونه جدید ارائه شده است.

تاکنون 33 گونه شته روی گیاهان تیره نعنائیان در ایران گزارش شده است. در این پژوهش تعداد 19 گونه شته متعلق به 12 جنس روی 20 گونه گیاه میزبان جمع آوری شد. علاوه بر این، 33 ارتباط بین گونه های شته و گیاهان میزبان شناسایی شد که 6 مورد آن برای ایران جدید است. در میان نمونه های مورد بررسی، یک گونه از جنس Ovatus از روی گیاه Mentha longifolia جمع آوری شده که طیف کاملی از داده های بیومتریک مابین دو گونه O. mentharius (van der Goot, 1913) و O. archangelskajae Kadyrbekov, 2008 را نشان می داد. با توجه به داده های بیومتریک نمونه های ایران، نتیجه گرفته شد که O. archangelskajae واریانت جغرافیایی O. mentharius است، بنابراین آن را نام مترادف O. mentharius در نظر گرفتیم و این گونه را توصیف مجدد نمودیم. در این مقاله پراکنش گونه های شته مرتبط با تیره نعناییان در نقاط مختلف ایران ارائه شده و شش مورد جدید نیز برای استان های فارس و کرمان گزارش شده است. کلید شناسایی شته های ماده بکرزا بی بال مربوط به گیاهان تیره نعناییان در ایران نیز ارائه شده است.

In this research, a total of 19 aphid species belonging to 12 genera were collected on 20 host plant species. Furthermore, 33 associations between aphid species and host plants were recognized, of which six are new for Iran. Among the examined specimens, an Ovatus species collected on Mentha longifolia showed a complete range of intermediate biometric data of O. mentharius (van der Goot, 1913) and O. archangelskajae Kadyrbekov, 2008. In view of the biometric data from samples of Iran, we conclude that O. archangelskajae is a geographical variant of O. mentharius, therefore we consider it as a synonym for O. mentharius and redescribe O. mentharius as its morphological entities are extended. In this paper, the distribution of the aphid species in different parts of Iran is also presented and six new occurrences are reported for Fars and Kerman provinces. An identification key to the apterous viviparous female aphids living on Lamiaceae in Iran is provided.

The present study is focused on the species belonging to the genus Maiestas Distant, 1917 (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae, Deltocephalini) in Iran, based on some specimens collected during 2016 to 2019 from Southeast Iran and species that have been previously reported: M. horvathi (Then, 1896), M. pruthii (Metcalf, 1967), M. schmidtgeni (Wagner, 1939), and M. trifasciata (Lindberg, 1954). M. pruthii, previously known from the Oriental region (India and Pakistan), is recorded for the first time in the Palaearctic region from Southeast Iran and M. horvathi is a new record for the fauna of Sistan and Baluchestan Province. An identification key and distribution maps for the Iranian Maiestas species are provided.

The order Hymenoptera comprises an important group of insects, with ecological and economic importance, and serving as ecological indicators. Investigating the diversity and distribution of fauna is considered a prerequisite for biodiversity conservation. In this research, the hymenopteran fauna in mangrove forests on the southern coast of Iran were studied during 2021–2022. The collection was made by sweeping net and light trap. The survey revealed the presence of ten species and nine genera belonging to six families. Of which, two species, Ampulex assimilis Kohl, 1893 (Hym.: Ampulicidae) and Paridris leda Kozlov & Kononova, 1985 (Hym.: Scelionidae) are recorded for the first time for the Iranian fauna. Diagnostic characters of the new records and geographical distribution of all species are provided.

قبیله Harpalini بزرگ ترین قبیله سوسک های زمین زی (Coleoptera: Carabidae) است که بیش از 240 جنس و زیر جنس و حدود 2000 گونه را شامل می شود. به منظور بررسی قبیله Harpalini، طی دو سال (1400 و 1401) از سوسک های زمین زی در پنج ایستگاه حوزه آبخیز طالقان استان البرز، نمونه برداری با روش منظم- تصادفی انجام شد. نمونه ها با روش هایی مانند جمع آوری با دست، تله های گودالی، زیرورو کردن سنگ ها و چوب ها، جمع آوری و الک کردن خاک برگ ها و تور زدن پوشش گیاهی جمع آوری شدند. در این پژوهش، 22 گونه شناسایی شد که متعلق به چهار زیر قبیله و هفت جنس بودند. سه گونه Dixus infans (Abeille, 1909) ، Harpalus laevipes Zetterstedt, 1828 و Harpalus punctatostriatus Dejean, 1829 برای ایران گزارش جدید هستند. در بین 22 گونه جمع آوری شده، حدود 41% کل گونه ها متعلق به جنسHarpalus (با نه گونه) و 18% متعلق به جنس Dixus (با چهار گونه) بودند. هر یک از جنس های Ophonus و Stenolophus نیز با داشتن سه گونه، حدود 14% از کل گونه ها را شامل شدند.کلید واژگان: سوسک های زمین زی، فون، ایران، تنوع زیستیHarpalini (Coleoptera: Carabidae) is the largest tribe of carabid beetles. In order to study Harpalini, ground beetles were collected by hand, pitfall trapping, turning logs and stones, sifting the leaf litter and sweeping the vegetation in five stations of Taleghan Watershed, Alborz Province during 2021–2022, by systematic random sampling technique. 22 species belonged to four tribes and seven genera were identified. Three species Dixus infans (Abeille, 1909), Harpalus laevipes Zetterstedt, 1828 and Harpalus punctatostriatus Dejean, 1829 are new records for Iran. Among 22 collected species, about 41% of the total species belonged to the genus Harpalus (with nine species) and 18% belonged to the genus Dixus (with four species).
