A Study of Moarrab Words in Ibn-Duraid Jamharah al-Loghah and its Comparison with Dehkhoda and Moeen's Dictionaries

Abstract:
Ibn Duraid al-Azdi (837-934), the Arab philologist and lexicographer was born in Basra. He lived a short time in Iran under Mikals government and worked on his Divan. Ibn Duraid’s chief work is his monumental dictionary al-Djamhara which contains some materials not to be found in other dictionaries. It is the greatest dictionary after AL-Ayn of Khalil in the Arabic language. In this article, an attempt is made to investigate about 300 words from this dictionary by comparing them to two Persian dictionaries: Dehkhoda and Moein
