An analysis of one verse from Sadi and Hafez to better understanding a basic concept of Formalist approach

The formalist approach basic concepts are not discussed adequately in Persian, especially from the view point of oriental traditional literary knowledge. But this kind of discussion can play a great role to achieve a better understanding of new literary approaches. Therefore it is proposed in this paper to start an investigation on the most important concept of Formalism, translated as procédé in French and device or technique in English. This literary term has seven translations In Persian. Hence, initially theses translations are examined, then the definitions of the term are explained. The different examples taken from Persian literature, above all a beautiful verse of Sadi and one from Hafez are analyzed in detail to demonstrate the importance and the applications of this basic concept not only in Formalism, but also in traditional literary knowledge.
