A Representation of an Epic from the Vedas in the Wall Decoration of Vasigh AnsariHistorical House in Esfahan (A Comparative Study between Images of One of TheWall Covering from Vasigh House and Characters of Indonesian Shadow Play)

Vasigh Ansari House has remained from Qajar period in Esfahan.This house is distinguished from its other contemporary monuments by vast application of wall covering,wall paper and fabrics,and the decoration of Dais,called ShahNeshin in Persian,and its adjacent room,in the west side of the house,with over 45 different designs in varied images and sizes.In this research,by analyzing the characters ' similarities based on Bishmatnit relation based on Jont 's theory, the comparative study of the images of one of Vasigh wallpapers with characters of Indonesian culture 's shadow play,Wayang,has been carried out, with the aim of answering the question of whether this fabric is a merely decorative work or retells a story.Accordingly,the story depicted on the mentioned textile has been extracted from Wayang shadow play and Arujuna 's story, from Bahagavad Gita.According to the results of this research,quantitative changes in the hypertext were figured out by summarizing the story to afew scenes,and its qualitative changes are intersemiotique,transition from word system to dramatic and then figurative systems;transmediotique,from puppet shows to illustration on the textile;transcultural,transition oftheology and literature of Vedas from India to Indonesia and its combination with Indonesian domestic art;and transvaluiotique,from South-East Asian religious values to a decorative element in Iranian architecture.
