The Use of Literary Texts in Methods Teaching French

Given the importance of method in the classroom, this article examines the role of literature in teaching French as a Foreign Language. In most methods of teaching French, literature is introduced quite late. In this article an attempt is made to highlight the importance and effectiveness of the use of literary texts in teaching French from the beginner level. Attention is also paid to investigating some problems encountered by French language learners in learning through literary texts. Finally, some solutions are suggested to tackle the possible problems.
