Jame al-Tamthil, an Ancient Dictionary of Iranian Adages

Jame` al-Tamthil is considered to be the first and the oldest comprehensive dictionary of Persian proverbs and adages. The author، Mohammad Ali Hablehroodi، was a forerunner in the field of collecting and compiling Persian adages and sayings. This book is regarded to be a valuable documented treasure of Iranian folklore (oral literature). In addition to the instructional aspect، the author utilizes the narrative attractions of parables and adages to explicate ethical and educational materials. This work is valuable in terms of literature، language، and vocabulary in Persian literature inside and outside Iran.
