A Structural Comparison of the Two Stories of Afrasiab and Siavash in Shahnameh and the Lion and the Cow in Kalileh and Demneh

This article studies the similarities and differences between the characters in the two stories of \ «Afrasiab and Siavash\» and \ «the Lion and the Cow. \» Inasmuch as myths represent a nation\''s culture and history، the mythic themes of the two stories were studied so as to be able to understand the roots and themes of these two narratives. The present research shows that this myth has been formed differently in the mind and culture of Iranians and Indians. Each nation has formed it its own way on the basis of its social، political and cultural circumstances. Indians، due to their philosophical attitude، have formed an allegory، and Iranians have formed an epic out of the same myth.
