The effect of aerobic exercise in 0 saturation children with sickle cell trait
Abstract:
Introduction &
Objective
Sickle cell anemia is a genetic disorder and hemolytic anemia. This anemia can damage organs. HbS hemoglobin and deoxygenating in peripheral tissues can be death in the patients. Exercise is a risk factor. But it remains unclear in patients with HbS display any disturbance during anaerobic or aerobic exercise in sickle cell trait. This study aim is determination of the effect of aerobic exercise on 0 saturation in children with sickle cell trait.
Materials And Methods
Eighty two (82) healthy and trait children in two groups: case and control (age 6-18) participated in this study. Anthropometrics profile and hemoglobin concentration were measured. HbS hemoglobin recognized with HPLC. All children did exercise on cycle ergometer 2min exercise and 3min rest. Before and fter exercise heart rate and 0 saturation assessd by pulseoximetry.
Results
there was no significant difference between two groups for 0 saturation before and after exercise. This parameter remained normal limited in children with sickle cell trait.
Conclusion
it seems aerobic exercise is safe for these children.
