Titles and epithets used by sovereigns in Iran before Islamic period

In ancient Iran sovereigns used many titles and epithets in order to spread their thoughts and views. Some of them were chosen following the predecessors and some other were chosen under the influence of different factors in the passage of time. By using titles and epithets, sovereigns mostly intended to obtain absolute power, superiority and piety among people. Studying titles and epithets of sovereigns in ancient times and also effective factors in forming them becomes possible by paying attention to the history and civilization of past peoples.
