The effectiveness of Self RegulatoryCouple Therapy on Marital conflict, Adjustment and Divorce

This study examined the effectiveness of Self-regulation couple therapy to enhancing marital adjustment.

This study administrated by using accessible sample, 16 couples with marital problems were choose from all the couples referred to the Family Health Clinic during 2006 to 2007 then the sample was randomly assigned to two groups. Experimental group (EG) consisted of 8 couples received self-regulation couple therapy and control group (CG) did not. “Dyadic adjustment scale” was administered to 16 couples before indentation. This scale was used in pre and post assessment in two groups.

The results of this study using Mann-Whitney Test showed that self regulation couple therapy increase the couple’s marital adjustment (P = 0.001) in EG to CT. In addition to total score in this scale, this invitation could be enhanced sub scales: consensus (P = 0.000), satisfaction (P = 0.002), affection expression (P = 0.048) and cohesion (P = 0.034).

Findings demonstrated that self-regulation couple therapy might be an efficient intervention to enhance marital adjustment.
