The Islamic Revolution of Iran and Appearance Of the Fourth Generation of Theories Of Revolution

The world has witnessed the occurrence of revolutions In the quarter of the zoth century that have not been very similar to other revolutions before them. The Islamic revolutions of Iran, revolutions in latin America and also in Eastern Europe, have made the widespread theoretical analyses about the sociology of revolution, nearly irrelevant. Prior to this group of “different revolutions” most authors had focused on revolutions such as those in England (1640) France (1789) Russia (1917) and China (1949) and tried to theorize on the basis of the data from these revolutions, which resulted in three different generations of theories regarding revolutions. However the revolutionary events of the last decades of the 20th century including the Islamic Revolution of Iran، as some of the most prominent authors have argucd have becom the source of a theoretical trend toward the fourth geruration of theories about revolutions. We will try in this paper to assess the role Of the Islamic revolution of Iran in developments in the issue of revolutions and the course of theories of revolution from the third to the fourth gereration during a concise discussion on the four generations of theories regarding revolutionary movements.
