A GIS-Based Approach for 3D Modeling of Noise by Using 3D City Model (Case Study: Parts of the 3rd Region of Tehran)

Message:
Abstract:
Although technical development has positive consequences for public welfare, its influences on environment especially by noise is considerable. Three-dimensional maps of noise pollution made it possible to control and prevent its spread. In this research, primarily because of the lack of a standard model of noise in Iran, we chose the Standard noise mapping method 1 (SMM1) which has been spread in Dutch for calculating noise levels of the study area. The validity of this model was tested by using the paired t-test technique with 95% confidence level. The combined model of noise with 3D city model in GIS environment determines that because of high influence of noise on front and lateral aspects of buildings, these areas are not suitable for commercial and residential applications, only backside of buildings due to a lower noise level are more suitable for residential areas. Construction of transparent sound walls in the type of cantilever to a height of seven meters, close to the outer edge of the highway was presented as an effective way to reduce the noise in the allowable range of commercial and residential purposes.
