The Function of Imagery in Shia Poetry: A Case Study of Abu- Faras Hamdani, Sharif Razi, and Mahyar Dailami

Message:
Abstract:
Poetic imagery is the result of poet's emotional and mental experiences. The role of poetic imagery in transferring the emotional and mental experiences and reflecting on its elements indicates the poet's worldview. This is to the point where the impact on the addressee and the quality of the literary work cannot be denied. Investigating this feature and its function in the poetry of Shia's Arabic poets, as a branch of Islamic Literature includes a great part of Arabic poetries, is an issue that a descriptive and analytical approach of the present paper deals with. The findings show that the use of poetic imagery by Shia's poets seems to act as a weapon against the rulers and authorities of the time. By using true emotional and mental poetic imagery, the Shia poets have impressed their readers and have given them certain grandeur and glory.
