Relationship between Job Stress, Organizational Commitment and Mental Health

Abstract:
Aim
The research purpose is to assess the relationship between job stress، organizational commitment and mental health amongst the personnel of AIDCO PRESS Company.
Method
The statistical population included all the personnel of AIDCO PRESS Company، out of which a sample of 200 individuals was randomly selected via stratified random sampling. The research tools consisted of Spillberger Job Stress Questionnaire، Allen-Meyer Organizational Commitment Questionnaire and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ). The data were analyzed using Pearson coefficient correlation، stepwise regression and one-way variance.
Results
Findings indicated that job stress is significantly، negatively correlated to mental health. Moreover، no significant correlation was observed between organizational commitment and mental health. In addition، competition and emotional commitment are the strongest predictors of mental health، accounting for the highest percentage of the total variance of mental health. What’s more، no significant difference was observed between employees'' job stress. Overall، blue-color workers’ organizational commitment and mental health rated higher than white-color employees.
