Trend Analysis of Breast Cancer Mortality in Iranian women

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among women worldwide. The aim of this study was to present the mortality trends from breast cancer among Iranian women from 1995 to 2004.

We analyzed the National breast cancer death Statistic reported by the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education from 1995 to 2004. Breast cancer was expressed as the annual mortality rates/100،000 and assorted by age and sex groups.

The age standardized mortality rate of breast cancer increased dramatically، however it seems that the rate would be leveled off from 2002 to 2004. Discussion &

There was an increasing trend for breast cancer mortality in Iran. Thus، a health education program would be necessary to enhance the knowledge of women about breast cancer signs and effectively screened the disease.
