Marāghah: A Civilization Centre of Ilkhanid Era (A Research Based on Ibn Fouti's Book, Majma ul- Ādāb fi mo jam ul- Alqāb)

On the ruins caused by the Mongols’ invasions, a dynamic centre of civilization was built by the outstanding scholar, famous mathematician and astronomer and praiseworthy jurisprudent and theologian, Khwājeh Nasir al-Din Tūsi. The characteristic features of this man of knowledge prompted the establishment of this centre of civilization. The shining section of this centre was the observatory of Marāghah that attracted students and scholars from all over the world.After expressing some generalities on this centre of civilization, this paper will provide a list of dignitaries who had come to Marāghah in order to meet Khwājeh and benefit from the research findings that were existed in that unique center.
