Fantasy in Hormozgan Folklore
Author(s):
Abstract:
Fantasy lexically means illusion and imaginary thoughts. In literary forms it is a genre in which imaginary and real elements are used as the main theme. Fantasy includes works that are away from reality and will be represented by taking refuge to imagination, dreams, illusions and hallucinations. Hormozgan, as an ancient and civilized land in Iran, is rich regarding folklore stories. Though the writers and narrators of the works are unknown but some of the stories have been successful in giving a live picture of the life in the past and the way they used to think in Hormozgan. This paper means to first give a theory of fantasy and them introduce different kinds of that. In the next step we will work on the story of “Nil King” that has two narratives from Bastak and Khamir. The last part would be the extraction of fantasy elements from the story so that we can apply them to the whole body of the narrative. This study is part of my M.A. thesis entitled the same.
