A Study on the Criteria of Quoting and Criticizing Poems in Nasr Abadi,s Anthology

A multitude of factors caused the poetry of Safavid period (905-1135 A.H) to make its way among ordinary people. Creating new content and expressing an immense sum of meaning through a few words. At the same time with increasing the number of the poets and their migration to foreign lands especially India, several books appeared dealing with the biography of the poets in Iran and India which contained the memoir of some poets. One of these anthologies was compiled by Muhammad Taher Nasr Abadi(1027- Later than 1091 A.H) an Isfahani poet and literati contemporary with King Soleiman which contains biography of about one thousand poets along with their reviewed poems. Although Nasr Abadi,s anthology is an independent work compiled mostly without copying from source books and other anthologies and historical data, the method of writing and research in this book is not always alike everywhere. Furthermore, since the author lacked the necessary skill and experience in such composition, he has made a few mistakes and some irrelevant factors have affected him. In this research the writers try to introduce the anthology and then discuss the criteria of quotation and criticism of poems in that book.
