A Survey of Academic's opinion about using the institutional repository of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad

Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has developed its institutional repository (SAED) for academic staff to storage and manage their scholarly information. However,there is no knowledge about the extent to which academics use such an integratedsystem and the problems they face in storage and retrieval of their publications. Theaim of this research is, therefore, to investigate the usage status and the problemsthat academics encounter in using SAED.Survey research and case study were selected for implementing the research. Data collection tool was a questionnaire developed by the researcher. Findings reveal that using SAED was problematic for most academics. Most ofthem believe that data entry and modifying the information stored in SAED are theirbiggest problems. Lack of proper instructions are acknowledged as the main reasonsfor such problems. Recommendations are provided for the improvement of thisrepository.
