The lifestyles of the youth particularly the university students have changed dramatically in recent years and some of these changes are not in consonance with the prevailing norms and values of the society. On the other hand, granted that cultural issues have gained more importance recently so mabsuch so that issues like cultural engineering are nowadays being debated, studying student's cultural inclinations and lifestyles and the variables that influence them become necessary. In this research, drawing on some postmodern concepts like Bourdieu's concept of cultural capital (1984) and Featherstone's concept of aestheticization of everyday life (1991), social factors that affect student's lifestyles in Isfahan universities are considered. A cluster sample of 361 native students from two large governmental universities is selected to fill out the questionnaires. The findings indicate that social class (=0.155), socializing with friends (=0.159), using the internet (=0.170), and using satellite television (=0.304) are significantly related to lifestyle. Altogether these variables could explain about 37 percent of the variance in lifestyle. Sex has no effects on lifestyle and social class is significantly related to using the internet and satellite television
