The Effect of Foundation Course 1 on Female Student's Attitude towards Physical Activity and Sport

Abstract:
In addition to its social and cultural role Physical education and Sports Science is considered as an educational curriculum in universities, and investigation of its effects helps us to better planning. The purpose of present study was studying the effects of foundation course يک on physical fitness and attitudes toward physical activity and sport in female students of Azad university of Saveh. Quasi-experimental design was used in present study. The statistical population included 100 female students of Saveh Azad University who selected foundation course in second Semester of the academic year 1387-1388. Research participants (n=80) selected randomly by stratified random sampling based on Morgan table sample from the students of 8 teacher, and then participated in pretest and posttest, In the initial and final stage of Academic Semester. In order to assessment of physical fitness AAPHER Youth Physical Fitness Test was applied. The instrument for evaluation of attitude was the (ATPA) questionnaire (Mozafari 1381) this questionnaire include 6 domain such a Physical activity as a social experience, Physical activity for health and fitness, Physical activity as the pursuit of vertigo, Physical activity as an aesthetic experience, Physical activity as catharsis, Physical activity as an ascetic experience. Based on research findings and outcome there was no difference between physical fitness of participants before and after passing foundation course يک (p=0. 933), while in the components of supine and sitting positions (p=0/045) and adroitness (p=0. 043) a statistically significant differences was observed. The findings of this study indicated significant change in 3 domains of attitude includeing social experience (p=0/024), aesthetic experience (p=0/001) and total attitude toward physical activity (p=0/038) from pretest to posttest. In the light of findings of present study we can conclude that although some changes are observed on physical characteristics of students after passing foundation course, but because of reasons such as lack of the time of the subject schedule, it results in no significant changes. Additionally, the present research suggest in term of observing some considerations some of the foundation courses presented in universities have the capacity to effect the student’s attitude toward physical activities.
