Mass Movement Susceptibility Mapping Using Logistic Regression Model(Case Study: 45-57 Kilometers of Haraz Road from Amol)

Mass movement occurrence beside roads is one of slope processes that occurs in certain parts of the world and Iran every year. This research aims to specify susceptible points to mass movements and generate a susceptibility map using the logistic regression model. The study area is located at 45-57 km of the Haraz road from Amol. This area is historically known as one of the most susceptible areas to mass movement occurrence. Based on interpretation of aerial photographs and satellite images and also field surveys، seven primary causative factors such as elevation، slope gradient، slope aspect، distance to the drainage system، distance to the road network، land use and geology which seems to be involved in mass movement have been recognized and processed in Arc/view 3. 2a. After entering independents variables into SPSS 15 and selecting the forward stepwise method، data were analyzed. The land use factor due to being miscorrelated with mass movement occurrence has been deleted from the final model. By transferring the model to Arc/view 3. 2a، the mass movement susceptibility map was generated with four classes. The generated map revealed that the risk of mass movement in 0. 69% of the study area is very low، at 17. 69% risk is low، at 35. 60% risk is moderate and 46. 01%of the area are located in high risk.
