Manifestation of Postmodernism in Abdul Rahman Monif's "Love of Al-majoseh"

Postmodernism is a term that was first introduced in 1917 in order to describe nihilism; a concept adopted from Niche. This term was used to describe some of the trends and theories in the field of philosophy, literature, art and other sciences. Postmodern, more than any other school of thoughts, believes in pluralism and hetroglossia. Abdul Rahman Monif as the father of Arab novel writing was finely informed of the trends and mutations of this type of literature. He strived to devise new methods that not only led to his maturity and perfection, but also a tangible movement towards the metamorphosis of the story writing industry. With this innovation and originality, realization of his works is somewhat challenging. Monif used literary terms, fixed techniques and writing solidness and tried to keep his distance from timeworn methods and design modern methods in different aspects of story writing. This paper uses a descriptive- analytical method and tries to reveal postmodern features in "Love of Al-majoseh". Of conspicuous traits of postmodern in his writings, one can mention uncertainty, hopelessness, consequent quirks, usage of context aesthetics and multiple endings for the story.
