The Effect of Wave Height on Rip Currents Pattern
Current pattern especially rip current، is the most important effective parameters on sediment transport in the coastal zone. In this research، the topographic rip current pattern exposed to changes in height of cross-shore waves has been studied using of Mike 21/3 software. For this purpose، water circulation in the bed with a long shore bar and two rip current channels was investigated. This research indicates wave-induced current hydrodynamic pattern in the form of vortexes with opposite vorticity on both sides of the rip current channel. The results show that stronger seaward vortexes are very effective on current circulation pattern in coastal zones، so that with the attack of higher waves، seaward vortexes are formed in large scale and increase the rip current velocity in the center of current channel، while in the presence of lower waves، seaward vortexes become weak and then approach the shore.
