Social Media and Media Organizations A review over policy-making process in National Media in confrontation with " Facebook"

The present article aims to examine policies and trends in the consumption of world’s biggest and most popular social media website, i.e. “Facebook”. It uses comparative methodology (convergence or divergence of TV channels or social media) to examine through online interviews the views of National Media’s staff using this social media. Thus, this research aims to study the policies and patterns adopted in using Facebook, taking into account the IRIB’s policies as well as the respondents’ practices and professional interactions. Findings indicate that there’s contradiction between IRIB policies with regard to using social media, particularly Facebook. In contrast, well-known people (famous journalists, anchors and presenters) using Facebook did not have a negative attitude towards this social media.
