The Position of New Media in the Mideast Recent Developments: A Case Study of Egypt

Abstract:
Presumably the new Arab history is under the influence of globalization and expansion of social media, and following the Middle East recent developments, a new rhetoric has been created in international relations. The present research poses the question that what the position of new media in Mideast recent events, particularly the Egypt revolution could be. The hypothesis is that along the revolution development, the new media played an important role in publishing news, organizing people and expanding the incidents through both the region and the world. The rise of modern media has increased the knowledge and information of the region’s peoples, including the Egyptian nation, and therefore leading to the facilitation and acceleration of the developments in the region. This article aims to study the formation and expansion of the Mideast recent developments and shed lights on the role of social media and satellite TV in the development of Arab revolutions. It also examines the way social media (Facebook, the Internet and text messaging) were used in reaching the goals of the Egyptian revolution. Descriptive-analysis was used as the methodology in this study.
