The determination of nutritive value of treated Safflower seeds using in situ and gas production techniques and evaluation of digestible models to describe ruminal degradation kinetics

This study was carried out to the determination of nutritive value of Safflower seeds (untreateated and treated with 120º C heat) using in situ nylon bag and in vitro gas production techniques in Gizel sheep. Two fistulated Gizel sheep with average BW of 50.5±2.5 kg were used in a complete randomized design. The gas production was measured at 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24, 36, 48 and 72 h and ruminal DM and CP disappearance were measured 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 36 and 48 h. Dry matter degradabilities of Safflower untreateated and treated seeds at 48 h were 54.30 and 50.90%, there were higher and lovier respectively, that showed significant differences (p<0.05). Crude protein degradabilities of Safflower untreateated and treated seeds at same times were 47.89 and 44.25 respectively that showed significant differences (p<0.05). The gas production of Safflower untreateated and treated seeds at 72 h were 161.39 and 328.12 ml/g DM that showed significant differences (p<0.05).
