Post-traumatic stress disorder prevalence in employees of emergency departments of teaching hospitals affiliated to Kerman University of Medical Sciences, Iran

Introduction
Personnel of emergency departments in hospitals have direct encounter with many events that threat their own wellbeing during daily work and may cause post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In the Iranian context، there are limited numbers of studies about the prevalence of PTSD among of hospital emergency personnel. This study aimed to fulfill this goal among in hospitals affiliated to the by Kerman University of Medical Sciences، Iran.
Method
Using Mississippi Scale for Combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder (M-PTSD)، the PTSD prevalence rate of all hospitals emergency personnel (n = 321) was assessed. Data were analyzed using Kolmogorov-Smirnov، chi-square، and Pearson correlation tests.
Results
5 personnel (2%) had slight، 235 (94%) had moderate، and 10 (5%) had severe PTSD. Mean PTSD number of hospital emergency personnel was 97. 02. Discussion and
Conclusion
The study suggests health care managers to organize systematic and dynamic policies and procedures in order to assist personnel to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder.
