Investigating the situation of the university teacher's work-life balance: A case study

Abstract:
Since work and life are the most important aspects of human beings; thus, this study seeks to analyze the necessity of managing the balance between work and life in order to prevent the detriments, consequences and side effects of the lack of such balance. The main question of the current study is: what are the strategies of maintaining balance between work and life? The study is a practical study in objective, and a survey investigation in method. The main instrument for data collection was a researcher- developed questionnaire. The teachers of one of the faculties of Tehran University constituted the population of the study. The results revealed that over half of the population failed to establish a reasonable balance between their life and work. In addition, the findings showed that, nearly excessive working hours, low income and a lack of appropriate plan to optimize time and opportunities are the most important factors provoking the imbalance between work and life.
