Reduplication in Guilaki Dialect

Abstract:

Reduplication is one of the word-formation processes in which a whole or some part of the base duplicates and makes a new word which in turn add new meaning to the base or express an intensive meaning. Since Guilaki is an endangered language، in addition to the fact that lexicon is the first part of the grammar which undergoes cultural changes، the investigation of its morphological processes has considerable importance. The present article aimed at specifying reduplication process in Guilaki and classifying different types of it in this dialect. The main question of the research was whether there were total and partial reduplication in Guilaki or not. The body of the date was gathered by both field study، including interview with the elders and youth of the region، and attributive method using Guilaki dictionaries. Then the data were studied with descriptive method. The findings of the research showed that there were total and partial Guilaki reduplicated words.
