The study of the status and Constructive Dimensions of national identity

The national identity is one of the most essential components of define any person from self and play a crucial role in contemporary world equations. The Nature of national identity in any society depends on its status and the Constructive Dimensions and consequently the nature of its status and the Constructive Dimensions will have different results in Various Societies. Therefore، understanding the impacts and consequences of national identity in any society needs to recognize its status and constructive dimensions among different social groups. In this study، the status of national identity in Tehran was studied in a sample of 818 persons 15 to 65 years. The main purpose of this study is to recognize of important dimensions and elements of national identity in Tehran. The results showed that the majority of respondents، nearly 70 percent، have high or very high of the national identity. Also the most important constructive dimensions of national identity among respondents were linguistic - literary، historical، geographical and religious dimensions. The status of national identity among various social categories showed that women، people 30 to 45 years old، married، retired people and housewives have national identity higher than other social categories.
