Evaluation of Money and Banking Textbooks in Iran

The dynamism of any science depends on fair criticism of the published works in that field. Undoubtedly، writing and publishing a new work in any field is greatly concerned with the review of previously published works as well as evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses. Such evaluations help to publish new books with less deficiencies and more creativity. The Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies is one of the Iranian official organizations responsible for reviewing educational and course textbooks inhumanities by its expert academic reviewers. The Institute accomplishes this task through the Iranian Council for Reviewing Books and Texts on Human Sciences. In economics، management and accounting majors، “Money، Currency and Banking” is an obligatory course in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Applying the indices set by the Iranian Council for Reviewing Books as well as the reviews done by the reviewers، the present paper aims to study both content and form of 15 published books in the field of money، currency and banking both individually and collectively by using the content analysis method. The results indicate that most of the reviewed books are graded between 3 to 3. 99 out of 5 in terms of both form and content.
