An examination of Bint al Shati's view concerning the refusal of the scientific miraculousness of the Qur an

It is the final word of all the real commentators of the Quran that the unique characteristics of the Quran have guaranteed its continuity and have been the means of surviving from obsoleteness throughout the erosional ups and downs of history. This very book has been reveled from He whose knowledge covers all times, places [geographies], questions, and needs of human and other creatures. Thus, He can always be a trustworthy respondent to humans’ questions and necessities. The best reason that proves this claim is the miraculous nature of the Quran, the verses that have challenged the human and their inability in bringing a book parallel to the Quran. The current paper addresses the scientific miracle of the Quran as one of the many aspects of the Quran. Indeed, the scientific miracle of the Quran, in other words, is a sheer confession of the humans’ scientific inability and with the expansion scientific spheres the proponents of such an outlook is on the rise. The Noble Quran while laying the greatest emphasis on the high position of knowledge and science in the universe, has described the most important scientific realities related to the universe beforehand i.e. prior the humans’ reach to such complicated fields. That is what makes a huge difference between the Quran and the rest of the heavenly sent scriptures. The scientific miracle of the Quran which is a kind of re-exploration of the secrecies of creation through the revelation, has been treated critically by some of the Quran researchers and the figures such as Bint al-Shati has restricted the miraculous nature of the Quran to its rhetoric aspect. The present paper tries to review her notion and disclose those shortcoming her view suffers.
