Consumerism in Society and its Effect on Urban Environment: New Approach

Since over urbanization and increasing urban growth has been the greatest impact on the environment, city is transformed to one of the main pollutants in the environment. Therefore, cities are the origins of consumerism and the advantage of consumerism is in irregular use of natural resources and energies. Also consumerism leads to the production of waste and garbage that goes beyond reconstruction’s tolerance of the environment and recycling. The aim of this article with applying document method is emphasizing on a new approach to urban environmental economy; on one hand, residents need to be provided without disappearing nonrenewable natural resources and energies, on other hand, reducing the process of the waste accumulation. This new approach can be called “Economy of Service and Flow”. In this method human nature replaces scarce natural resources and increased demand for labor.
