Survey the epidemiology of Servico-vaginitis and Effective Agents among Women Referred to Yazd Central Laboratory
Vaginitis is known as one of the most frequent Cervicao-vaginal infections seen in worldwide women, which has bacterial, fungal and parasitic etiologic agents. There are different reports in medical literature for the frequency of vaginitis etiologic agents based on geographical regions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the epidemiology of service-vaginitis and effective parameters in symptomatic women referred to referred to Yazd central laboratory.
This descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 370 censuses selected symptomatic women (itching, irritation, discharge, and …), who referred to Yazd central laboratory for sample collection and detection of disease. After completion questioner form, their vaginal samples were collected for microscopic direct smear and culture on specific media. Data was analyzed by SPSS software using ANOVA and Chi-square tests. Differences were considered statistically significant when P < 0.05.
Totally 195 women (52.7 %(were diagnosed having vaginal infections including 93)25.7 %(bacterial, 87)23.5 % (Candidal and 15 (4 %) with trichmonal vaginitis. In current study the 30-39 years old age groups showed the most frequency and women under 19 years old showed minimum frequency of disease. The highest frequency was seen among women using oral hormonal contraceptives however women having natural method showed minimum frequency of vaginal infection. There was seen a statistically significant correlation between housewife women and the frequency of vaginitis in present study (P=0.001).
Results of current study showed that bacterial and candidal Servico-vaginitis was more common in symptomatic women. The highest incidence of candidal vaginitis was seen in 30-39 years age group women, house wives and oral hormonal contraceptive user’s.
