Introduction of photography in the design of posters in Iran

Reports background of using photography in poster design up to 1937.Research Data was gathered from archival and library resources. Using photography in the design of posters in Iran goes back to 1930. In that decade posters were designed only for movies. The first poster was designed for a movie named "Abbi and Robby" directed by Avanes Oganiance. Three years later, Chanda Warker, an Indian designer designed a poster for the movie "The Daughter of Lorestan" in India. Warker's name is registered as the first poster designer in the history of graphic design in Iran. The sheer number of posters in which photos were used, indicates that designers welcomed the idea relatively.
