Research barriers from the viewpoint of faculty members Isfahan University of Medical Sciences

Universities are the most important setting for science production and organizing academic research is one of the most effective strategies in society development. This research was performed to determine the research barriers from the viewpoint of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences faculty members. This descriptive study was conducted in 2008.faculty members on Isfahan University of Medical Sciences were selected by census sampling methods. The instrument for data collection was a validate & reliable questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS (16) software. 121 questionnaires were returned. The most important barriers of research were inadequate incentives in researchers, inadequate time and lots of work, not using the research results. Different barriers affect research activities based on facultie's point of view. Reviewing the approval process for research projects, empowerment of human resources, attention to research utility, designing of communication and information sys Removing these barriers by the research officials & hospital managers is necessary.
