Review of Effective Followership Concept and Its Relation to Effective Leadership

Abstract:
Today concepts such as follower and followership are increasingly discussed in topics related to organization and leadership. A review in researches carried out on follower -leadership relation revealed that the main focus of this research is centralized on leadership concept. Although without presence of effective followership, effective leadership is also meaningless. Therefore it is necessary that the concept of followership in follower-leadership relation receives the most attention. Thus the purpose of this research is that with a new approach and using suggested theories about followership, the concept of effective followership and its relation to effective leadership is defined so that the relation level between leader and follower in organization framework enhanced. Therefore in this research, a library method is used to collect and analyze the suggested theories. The results of research indicated that among different styles of followership, effective followership style having independent critical thinking and active performance is the best style in interaction with effective leadership to materialize organization targets.
