University Spin off's growth model

Abstract:
In recent years، using of university spin-offs as an interface between universities and industry for technology commercialization has gained special attention of strategists and policy makers. The law passed in support of university spin-offs through its bylaws clearly states the needs for enabling technological entrepreneurship in universities. Therefore، for deep understanding about the creation and growth of university spin-offs in Iran، in this paper، based on grounded theory and deep interview with toenty CEO’s and board of director’s members of fourthin firms in Sharif University incubator، Tehran University incubator and Tehran University science park، this study tried to find out some disciplines to create the growth model of firms. In conclusion، this study identified fourty factors as difficulties، and through the focus group method، seven problems were selected as main topics throughout the life cycle of university spin-offs in Iran. However، these problems explain seven challenges for the growth of university spin-offs in Iran. Thus، based on the dominant problem approach، these challenges were used as the basis for the development of proposed seven stages growth model.
