Message:
Abstract:
For Alexandr Sergeyevich Pushkin, one of the greatest revolutionary novelists andpoets of the 19th century, society and the governing power were two lifetime issues.Pushkin portrayed different social classes including farmers, peasants, and rulers. Moreover, he was master of forming character types. One of these character typesthat has been mainly dealt with in this study is the superfluous man in Puskin’scharacter. This group is represented by the main character of the novel EugeneOnegin. Although this character was first introduced by Turgenev in The Diary of aSuperfluous Man in 1850, the character was mainly introduced to Russian’sliterature by Pushkin in his work Eugene Onegin. Along with surveying EugeneOnegin as the representative of this type of character, another group, which may becalled the representative of the golden generation, is also introduced here. Thisarticle tries to elaborate on both of these character types by picturing similaritiesbetween them in the character of Eugene Onegin.
