Evaluation of causal model of relationship between educational background, self-efficacy, performance goals and academic achievement among university students
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the structural model of educational background, self-efficacy, performance goals and university student's progress through the path analysis. That is why, a statistical sample of 370 Bu_Ali Sina University’s students have been selected by using multistep cluster sampling. They answered Sherrer and Madoex questionnaire of self-efficiency (1982) and Midgley performance objectives (1994). Also, their mean of end term scors during this semester and the previous semester have been considered in order to assess the rate of their academic achievement. The results showed that this model has a perfect fitness with the findings of this study. Educational background has, both directly and indirectly, significant effects on subsequent educational attainment through the mediating variables of self-efficiency and performance objectives.
