Characteristics of Tehran Public High Schools Principal's Effectiveness and submit proper strategies

Abstract:
This study examines the features of effectiveness of state high schools principals in Tehran and provides appropriate strategies. In the theoretical foundation, concepts and definitions of educational administration, objectives and tasks of educational managers as well as the research background are reported and the factors which may cause the effectiveness of educational administrators have been examined. The study populations are male and female principals of state high schools in Tehran. Sample size was calculated based on Morgan and Grej table and 135 principal were selected from school districts in Tehran as multi-stage cluster. The 170 questionnaires distributed and 130 were collected. That the return rate was %76. Then the validity and reliability of questionnaire were tested by using SPSS and LISREL software. The research hypotheses were tested through descriptive and inferential statistics and the research results indicated that:Personality characteristics are significantly associated with the administrator’s effectiveness. Human relationships, enthusiasm for change and realism are respectively associated with the principal’s effectiveness more than any other personality characteristics. Leadership characteristics are significantly associated with the principal’s effectiveness. There are significant differences between the views of experts in education and the principals of high schools.School principals believe that employee empowerment, flexibility and goals internalizing and also stability of character, job commitment and work tirelessness have more impact on principal’s effectiveness than the other personality and leadership characteristics.
