Park-and-Ride Location in Tehran Using an Innovative Method

Facility Location is a complicated problem that is broadly mentioned in math programming and Management Science. Park-and-rides provide a combination of public transit and personal car modes. Aim of building a park-and-ride is to increase transit accessibility and acceptability as a major trip mode. The main goal of this paper is to establish a useful way of solving park-and ride facility location problem by ranking feasible points (Subway stations) based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This ranking process was done based on three different measures: desired demand, land cost, and master-plan suggestions. Distance between park-and-ride and subway station was assumed equal to or less than desired walking distance. At last, the results were adjusted based on subway stations’ location and relative distance between them.
