A Study of Farouk Goweda's Political Poetry during Egypt's 2011 Revolution

Attending human affairs, social issues, politics and government, has long been seen in the Arab poems however, in recent years this dedication to community problems has become a more coherent and serious one. Thus, poets comply with the social issues more than before. Farouk Goweda is one of the Egyptian poets who feels a sense of commitment and responsibility against the authoritarian ruler of Egypt, especially during the reign of Hosni Mubarak. He has used his literary talent to challenge and confront Mubarak’s regime. He has always been critical of the Egyptian government and has opposed along with the revolutionary protesters. As an intellectual poet who is well aware of his society’s needs, his magical writings has played a great role in advancing the revolutionary goals of his compatriots during the Egypt’s revolution of 25th January 2011. This paper reviews the political and revolutionary poems of Goweda and its impact on the 2011 Egyptian revolution; poems of such poets during the recent revolution has encountered the young Egyptians against Mubarak's regime and has been effective in promoting the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak. The method of this study is mainly descriptive-analytical and bears a theoretical nature and has been carried out with the study and analysis of the pot’s political intentions in the course of militancy and revolution.
