Recovery of Missing Shiite Hadith Books Using Al-Muhit fi al-Imamah

M.A in Hadith Sciences and Student of Qom Seminary The present paper is a report of some quotations from Al-Muhit fi al-Imamah found in some Shia hadith sources that have been lost over time. The author of the book is an Iranian fifth-century Zaydi. He has written it in response to the Twelver Shia. Among his quotations, there is a hadith from Nawadir al- Hikmah written by Muhammad bin Ahmad bin YahyaAsh`ari Ironically, Sheikh Tusi has narrated from Imam Sadiq exactly the same content as in `Uddat ‘Usul. The hadith is mursal, without sanad (chain of authorities) and without a specific source, that is why, from that time until now Uddat ‘Usul is the only source of this hadith. The above mentioned Zaydi author has quoted several other Imami books that have not reached us, like al-Ara’ wa al-Diyanat written by Shaykh Hassan bin Musa Nobakhti and al-Izah by ShaykhMufid.
