Comparative Study of Saint Paul and Fakhr-e-Razi on Concept of Faith

Faith is the very important issue in the Abrahamic religions. Two religious thinkers in Christianity and Islam، Saint Paul and Fakhr-e-Razi، have also addressed the concept of faith. According to them faith is the basis of religion and ethics and the main cause of human salvation. Faith literally in the Paul’s view means to trust، and in the Fakhr-e- Razi’s view means to trust، to acknowledge and security. Paul defines faith as to trust and to be certain that what we hope، although be invisible، will be performed. Fakhr-e-Razi defines faith as “to acknowledge what we necessarily know that they are in the religion of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) along with the belief”. Paul''s emphasis is on the trust and Razi’s emphasis is on the acknowledgment. Both believe that their Prophets have faith، with the difference that Jesus in Paul has divinity. Verbal acknowledgment in Paul is necessary for perfection of faith and in Razi is necessary for attainment of faith. Fakhr-e-Razi also investigates the faith of God. Saint Paul also investigates the link between faith، trust، hope and love. According to them good actions are results of faith and faith is the gift of God.
