Effectiveness of Life Skills Training on Improving SCL-90 psychological indicators and quality of life in patients with Diabetes

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of life skills training on improving SCL-90 psychological indicators and quality of life in patients with diabetes. The present research was a quasi-experimental study by pre-post test and control group design. Statistical population included all the patients referred to the professional clinic of diabetes، Aryana Clinic. The sample randomly recruited from those patients interested in participating in life skills training. According to the diagnosis of professional clinic، the sample were divided into experimental (n=35)، and control (n=35) groups. Research tools included 1- Symptom Check-list 90 and 2-World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL-26). The results of MANOVA showed that mean scores of experimental group were lower in Symptom Check-list 90 (psychoticism، phobic anxiety، anxiety، depression، OCD، somatization and mental health (P<0. 01) and higher in WHOQOL -26 (physical and mental satisfaction (P<0. 05) compared to control group. It was concluded that life skills training program could have a significant effect on improving mental health and quality of life in patients with diabetes.
