Melancholia is one of the most important diseases in Iranian Traditional Medicine. If melancholia is classified according to the international classification of diseases (ICD), it is considered as a mental disorder.On the other hand, the cause of psychiatric disorders, despite the high prevalence, is unknown, and treatment protocols for these disorders are inadequate. Therefore, psychiatric disorders are one of the world's major health problems.Understanding of diseases such as melancholy can open new horizons for researchers to solve problems in the etiology and treatment of psychiatric disorders.
